Wild Iris & Ice
Your daily haiku helping
Wild Iris and ice are today’s haiku prompt words:
cold as ice
her far away stare
Wild Iris
beside the old pond
the wild irises whisper
tales of winter ice
Winter ice melting
heralding the new season
the Wild Irises
Giving the old pond another bash(o) today. I hope the master wouldn’t mind too much. Thank you for

Finding Refuge in a Summer Storm
John, I love how you gave Bashō’s old pond another 'bash'! The imagery of winter ice melting into the whispers of the Wild Iris is beautiful.
Your prompt actually resonates deeply with what I am sharing today. While you are exploring ice melting into spring, I just experienced the intense summer heat breaking into a sudden, cooling rainstorm. I ended up stuck under an old roadside shed for an hour after a medical errand, watching the world wash clean.
As a fellow 'wanderer' in this haiku world, it’s amazing how nature always provides that unexpected stillness right when we need it most. That pocket of refuge became my latest watercolor haiga, 'Finding Refuge in a Summer Storm.'
Thank you for the daily inspiration! 🌿
Love the juxtaposition and the sounds of iris and ice together. Lovely pairing!
